GOP Governor who REFUSED to “Vote Trump” Over “Sexual Comments” just Resigned over a Sex Scandal with a Former Aide, and Ethics Violations

Remember back in October 2016 when the Alabama Republican, Gov. Robert Bentley, made the statement that he couldn’t vote for Trump over a leaked video of Pres. Trump joking that he could “grab ’em by the pussy” emerged? Well, it appears as if he’s a bit of a hypocrite!

The so-called “Luv Guv” who is also a former church deacon just resigned amid allegations of ethics violations and other infractions. The announcement was made on Monday after being booked into the Montgomery County Jail and pleading guilty to two misdemeanors unrelated to the sexual scandal, which included failing to file major contributions reports and knowingly using campaign contributions for personal use.

But it doesn’t end there! Back in March 2016 he also admitted that he made sexually charged remarks to his own senior political advisor, Rebekah Caldwell Mason.

Yesterday Mr. Bentley decided to finally call it quits and resigned in order to avoid impeachment.
“I have decided it is time for me to step down as Alabama’s governor,” Mr. Bentley, 74, said at the State Capitol. He did not mention the charges to which he pleaded guilty or the deal with prosecutors that mandated his resignation.

New York Times revealed a report this past Friday that detailed how Mr. Bentley had created an “atmosphere of intimidation” while ordering state employees to cover up his relationship with Ms. Mason. Which included threats against his former wife’s staffer, Heather Hannah, who helped her boss secretly record his phone calls.

According to the report released by the Alabama Ethics Commission, Mr. Bentley had committed numerous felonies. Two days later, a lawyer that was hired by the Alabama House of Representatives released another report portraying Mr. Bentley as nothing more than “deceitful and desperate.

The 131-page report (PDF) also went on to state Mr. Bentley at offered little cooperation to legislative investigators, and that his critics were subjected to coercion, which also included harassing messages and threats of prosecution.

Needless to say, it appears as if the anti-Trump establishment Republicans are draining the swamp of themselves.
