Hollywood Elites Vow to ‘Not Send a Dime’ to Obama over SOPA Bill

Barack Obama George Clooney Hollywood Elites Vow to Not Send a Dime to Obama over SOPA Bill

Obama can always issue a executive order to please the elitist liberals in Hollywood so the donations could continue, but he would then alienate the extremely rich online supporters. So Obama is at a dilemma, alienate millionaire Hollywood elitist who have millions of followers, who know the people by name and face globally, or the people behind popular websites who are mostly far from household names, but have much more wealth?

Below we will post the conflicting reports two seperate sites are posting. First we will post quotes from The Hollywood Reporter, who claims most of Hollywood will not boycott Obama over his stance.

(The Hollywood Reporter) Fundraising events for Obama are still on, despite disappointment over SOPA, Hollywood supporters say.

While individual Hollywood executives may decide pull back on their support for of President Barack Obama because of his refusal to support anti-piracy legislation, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that there is no collective “boycott” planned because of the president’s decision.

DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, Obama’s top supporter in the entertainment industry, will continue to raise money for the president’s reelection, a spokesman confirms Wednesday. And plans are moving forward to bring the president to Los Angeles for a series of fundraisers on Feb. 15, THR has learned.

Now we will share what we have learned from Deadline.

(Deadline) Internet sites on their SOPAStrike may be conducting a blackout but Hollywood studios are conducting a boycott. I’ve learned that Hollywood studio chiefs individually and as a group are drawing a line in the sand on the piracy issue with the Obama re-election campaign and refusing to give any more donations.  The blowup came after President Obama on Saturday dashed moguls’ hopes that he would remain on the sidelines in the dispute over the U.S. House Of Representatives’ Stop Online Piracy Act and the U.S. Senate’s Protect IP Act. In a posting on the White House web site, three of the Obama administration’s top officials for Internet and intellectual property matters said that  they share many of the concerns that the Internet community has about the Hollywood-supported bills. The trio said that they “will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet.” Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator Victoria Espinel, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra, and Special Assistant to the President Howard Schmidt tried to soften the blow to Hollywood by acknowledging that that online piracy is “a serious problem that requires a  serious legislative response.”

Now the question remains, who will and who will not support Obama considering the White House has already released a list of Hollywood supporters recently.
